The Grass is NOT Greener

It’s easy to take a interest in other people, but have you taken the time to know yourself? We can spend so much time and energy wondering about what other people are getting up to. It’s completely pointless, it’s like running a 100m race and staring at someone else’s lane whilst you run. You’re not focussing on what’s important anymore.

Whilst pointless, it’s also understandable. We have Social Media, Gossip Magazines, Television Shows and Group Chat. All which show just the surface of a person’s life.

The people that we see on Instagram with 2000 likes eating at the shard, could be sitting in a block with no electricity and we look at them behind our screens thinking they are living life. On the other hand, the opposite can be true. They could be relaxing in a nice penthouse with the money that they used focusing on themselves.

But no matter what anyone else’s reality is, what does that do for you?

I’ve met some people that beat themselves up because they are always comparing themselves to the next person. This only breeds a cycle of dissatisfaction with themselves by constantly looking at what they don’t have as opposed taking the same energy to focus on themselves.

So far in my life, I’ve come to understand that we are all on our separate journeys in life and our paths may collide at one point or another to teach us a lesson. The beauty comes from the fact that we are all going towards a different, unique destination. It would only be unreasonable to try and be the sheep to a shepherd.

You may think the grass is greener on the other side. But if you take the time to water your own grass, it would be just as green.

Do what works for you, do what you enjoy doing, put yourself first. Who cares what other people say, they’ll talk either way…At least you’ll be living the way that pleases you.
