Getting Through the Storm

health.xxlGoing through serious emotional turmoil? Battling with thoughts you don’t know how to handle? Well, you’ve come to the right place, my friend. I just want to let you know that you are not the only one in the boat and that we all have our ups and downs. There is “a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance” (Ecclesiastes 3:4) and it’s not by force that we must be okay all the time.

You see God has already told us that there WILL be storms in our life, although every storm inevitably does have an end. We will each individually reach a point where our emotions and thoughts turn so unreliable that we can no longer trust ourselves. Hence why we have to trust in the Lord our God with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Although I have to say how you feel is 100% valid and significant and you should not ignore it.

Sometimes you’ll feel like life is falling apart but it’s in our weakest & most vulnerable moments is when we need God the most. When we are weak that’s when we are strong in Him, “His strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 2:9). It’s when we are hopeless & broken, that’s when we need a savior. We need someone to lean on that’s strong, dependable & someone that won’t leave or mock us. God has the strength that upholds the Heavens and the Earth & He’s also able to provide that strength to uplift you. He’s the strong tower (Proverbs 18:10) that we are able to lean on. It’s in our deepest & darkest moments that we build the deep intimacy with God if we trust Him, learn to be open & co-operate with Him to take us through.

Jesus speaks to us and says “Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock

But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell. And great was its fall” (Matthew 7:24-27).

Following the Word of God will keep us grounded, He’s our firm foundation. His Word safeguards us from taking ventures into wrong paths that feel good at the time but leave us feeling empty. God will protect us when we are most vulnerable and prone to make decisions out of desperation that we will regret in the long run. Sometimes we are so urgent to find comfort in the midst of pain that we will turn to anything or anyone, also known as idols but that’s not our portion IJN.

God knows everything about you & He knows what’s best for you. He wants you to depend entirely on Him without turning to the crutches you have used in the past “and do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing” (1 Samuel 12:21)

He knows your struggles, just be real with Him. We don’t need to be holier than thou and talk in old English with 150004984 scriptures just to speak to God, He just wants your authenticity lool.

Take a walk and tell Him about your life. Tell Him about your insecurities, tell Him about your hopes & your dreams. Ask Him questions about anything. Tell Him about that girl/guy you like, excavate the darkest corners of your life and bring it to His light and watch how He’ll transform you and be that best friend you’ve always dreamed of having.

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). God is with you every single step of your journey in this life & He goes through whatever you go through with you. He forgives you, loves you & will equip you to handle the battles of this life. He will see you through this storm & He’ll give you joy in the midst of it.

By no means is the storm easy, but God’s got your back. He’s the light in your darkness as hard as that may appear.

Enjoy this song too, it’s helped me a lot.
